HLA-B * 1502 Gene Detection Kit (Fluorescent Probe qPCR Method)

Detection principle:
Design specific primers and probes based on the known gene sequence of human major histocompatibility antigen molecules. When the primer sequence can fully match the target sequence, the primers undergo polymerase chain reaction. Special nucleic acid fragments will be replicated and amplified, while the probe will bind to the target sequence and generate fluorescence through the decomposition of polymerase. Fluorescence reaction indicates the presence of a target gene sequence that matches specific primers in the sample, otherwise it is not.

  

Detection significance:
The HLA-B * 1502 allele has been confirmed to be highly associated with Steven Johnson Syndrome (SJS) caused by the use of the commonly used psychiatric drug carbamazepine in the Han population, as well as toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) with a clinical mortality rate of up to 30%. Research has found that patients with HLA-B * 1502 gene who take this medication have a 193-1300 times higher risk of severe drug allergies causing these two symptoms compared to the general population. According to reliable statistics, the proportion of carrying HLA-B * 1502 allele in the Chinese population exceeds 10%. Therefore, by detecting whether the HLA-B * 1502 allele is carried, the risk of patients taking carbamazepine induced SJS/TEN can be reduced. (The US FDA and medical regulatory authorities in Japan, Taiwan, and other regions have explicitly required doctors to undergo HLA-B * 1502 genetic testing before using carbamazepine in Asian populations, and this test has been included in medical insurance coverage.)
