Weihe Joins Hands with Shanxi Provincial Blood Center to Organize a Platelet Transfusion Seminar

On April 17th and 18th, the platelet blood type and transfusion seminar, sponsored by the Shanxi Provincial Blood Center (Taiyuan Red Cross Blood Center) and co organized by Jiangsu Weihe Biotechnology Co., Ltd., was successfully held in Taiyuan, Shanxi. Zhang Demei, Director of the Blood Transfusion Research Office of Shanxi Provincial Blood Center, members of the Blood Transfusion Research Office, researchers from various blood centers in Shanxi, and Weihe Biotechnology Support jointly participated in this meeting.

On the afternoon of the 17th, after a brief opening ceremony, researchers Zuo Jiangtao and Wu Yunxiang from the Blood Transfusion Research Office of Shanxi Provincial Blood Center introduced the immunological basis of platelets and platelet antigen antibody detection technology. Team leader Wang Fei analyzed how the laboratory utilized the existing platelet antigen testing and antibody testing to find suitable/compatible platelet donors for patients with ineffective clinical platelet transfusion in the established Shanxi Province Platelet Donor Database, despite the failure of conventional cross matching tests to solve the problem. After elucidating a series of risks associated with ineffective platelet transfusion, the director of the research department, Zhang Demei, emphasized the importance of HPA combined with HLA-A+B genotyping and extensively promoted the construction of platelet banks to researchers from various regions participating in the conference.


At the end of the meeting, Liu Ming, a technical support from Jiangsu Weihe Biotechnology, introduced our HPA/HLA genotyping kit and conducted a technical demonstration of the HPA antigen typing test in the Blood Transfusion Laboratory of Shanxi Provincial Blood Center, which was unanimously recognized and widely praised by the attendees.
